Peer Education Training Program (PET): Be Part of a Social Safety Net
The Peer Education Training Program (PET) is an integral part of the Nasha Mukth Bharath Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign initiated by the Government of India to combat drug use among the youth. This innovative program empowers individuals to act as social safety nets by equipping them with the skills to educate, support, and guide peers in their communities.
Key Objectives and Focus
The training emphasizes creating awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, offering practical ways to intervene, and fostering a culture of mutual support. Participants are trained to recognize signs of drug dependency, provide guidance, and connect individuals to professional help when needed. The program’s overarching goal is to instill a sense of responsibility among peers to actively contribute to a drug-free society.
